What a Wookie!
At the end of May, we were delighted to welcome the Galaxy’s favourite Wookie, Chewbacca, for a surprise appearance to meet and greet patients ahead of a special screening of Solo: A Star Wars Story, at our CW+ MediCinema in Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
Patients and their families who had come to see Han Solo on the big screen were both surprised and delighted to also get to meet his famous Wookie pal, who joined us to help create moments that matter with their loved ones during an evening to remember.
The patients enjoyed fun before the film, including face painting and a balloon artist - here’s Chewie checking out his likeness with one of our brave patients.
And it was wonderful to see some of the other cast getting behind the event!
Sara Hanson, Director of Charitable Programmes at Disney, said: “Disney are proud to partner with MediCinema UK as part of our wider social purpose programme. By working with the charity and hospitals, such as CW+ and Chelsea and Westminster, we can create Moments that Matter for patients and those closest to them when they need it the most; helping to build emotional resilience through positive shared social experiences.”
Thank you so much Chewbacca, Disney and Lucasfilm! Your visit brought so much joy to everyone and made the whole screening extra special. This was truly a day to remember for all of our patients and their families, helping them to escape their hospital surroundings for a while.
