Rausing Trust Awards Grant To MediCinema
We are extremely grateful to have been awarded a grant by the Julia and Hans Rausing Trust from their Charity Survival Fund, to help meet some of our running costs to see us through the year.
Like many charities our income has taken a very sharp fall and we have a substantial deficit to fill. This generous grant will help us continue to deliver our mission to help NHS patients feel better with film over the challenging months ahead – both through our reopened cinemas, and our new bedside and ward-based activities to support patients like Lola who are even more isolated than before. “I enjoyed getting dressed up and getting out of the ward,” she told us!
With tighter visiting restrictions again, the chance watch a movie in a proper cinema inside the hospital, or for free on a bedside screen is enough to brighten anyone’s day!
This grant will also help to keep our strategic growth plan moving forward with the aim, once this crisis is over, of still doubling the number of cinemas we have in hospitals, and tripling the people we can reach to extend our impact.
The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust has been a key supporter of MediCinema’s mission for some time. They have helped to support patients, families, and staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital through our partners the Hospital Trust and the hospital charity CW+, funding the capital costs of building the shell of the MediCinema in that hospital in 2015. We thank them again for their ongoing support of MediCinema and NHS patients across the UK.
