Cineworld team members go above and beyond in support of MediCinema
Cineworld team members have put in a momentous effort to raise funds and awareness for MediCinema between April and June of this year with events from long-distance runs, canoeing the River Severn and mountain climbs putting the charity front and centre amongst the Cineworld community.
MediCinema’s long-standing partnership with Cineworld now sees us alongside three other official charity partners benefiting from the support and generosity of the UK cinema chain on a quarterly basis.
Running relationship
Craig Bartlett, General Manager at Cineworld Rushden Lakes set himself the challenge of running between his site and Cineworld Northampton, a distance of 18 miles. On what turned out to be a swelteringly hot day, Craig completed this mammoth challenge raising over £600 for MediCinema. Craig wasn’t alone in donning our bright pink top and taking on a tough challenge for MediCinema; the team at Cineworld Broughton scaled the heights of Snowdon, whilst Cineworld Poole took on a 24.35km coastal walk.
Alongside these physical challenges, we’re also grateful for the above and beyond in-foyer fundraising from across the Cineworld sites, from bake-sales to face-painting, ‘Spin-to-win’ and movie quizzes.
We are thrilled to continue being partnered with MediCinema and truly value this charity's fantastic work to help so many families. We hope the funds raised will help. Thank you to our customers for their donations and to our teams for their fundraising efforts. We look forward to fundraising again for MediCinema in the future.
Elizabeth Morris, Regional Manager, Cineworld Cinemas.
Alongside team and individual fundraising, Cineworld offers their audiences the opportunity to support MediCinema by choosing to add a £1 donation to their ticket, rounding up to the nearest pound when purchasing their cinema snacks and by selling our special edition MediCinema pin badge in the foyer. This combined with the team member fundraising efforts has brought Cineworld’s fundraising total for MediCinema in the second quarter of the year to just shy of £44,500.
Members of the Cineworld teams from Newport, Cardiff, Newcastle, and Bexleyheath also visited their local MediCinema to find out more about what we do and how their support is helping the patients who benefit from our in-hospital cinema experience.
We want to say a huge thank you to Cineworld’s team members for their continued support as well as to the generosity of their patrons for choosing to give to us whilst enjoying their own cinema experience. We’ve been so touched by the personal engagement of Cineworld staff - it’s so heartening to see how much effort has gone into supporting our cause and we truly appreciate everything the Cineworld teams have done for the patients and their families who benefit from our services.
Jamie Lynch, Director of Development, MediCinema.
