MediCinema’s Match-Funded Christmas Appeal Raises £57,695
MediCinema’s Christmas Appeal has raised an incredible £57,695 for the charity thanks to the generosity of individual donors and our match-funding partners for 2024.
Centred around the moving story of a young Leukaemia patient, Jake, the appeal shed light on the tangible impact that MediCinema can have for patients and their families whilst in hospital.
Since Jake’s first visit to MediCinema at the tender age of 3, he has made great progress with his recovery. This year Jake celebrated his 7th birthday and has now completed his treatment for Leukaemia, enjoying a healthy and happy Christmas without any trips to the hospital.
We recently caught up with Jake’s mum, Jill, who told us about the transformative effect of their visits to the MediCinema.
We are extremely thankful for everything MediCinema has done for us helping Jake break the stigma with hospital always being bad. MediCinema has been on this journey with us and the support and love we have felt has been fantastic. When in hospital you can never underplay what a sense of normality can bring, never mind the quality of the MediCinema’s cinema.

The £57,695 raised throughout our Christmas Appeal is made up of individual giving, corporate donations and match-funding contributions and will enable us to continue to bring the power of film and the shared cinema experience to our 7 MediCinemas situated within NHS hospitals across the UK. The appeal has also helped MediCinema to raise awareness of our services amongst the general public, who may not have heard of us before.
The outpouring of support for MediCinema this Christmas, from individual donors and our corporate partners, has blown us away. We want to say a special thank you to Jake and his family for allowing us to tell his story to highlight the importance of the work we do in NHS hospitals across the UK.
