Frozen Festivities

16th Dec 2019

Topping our list of 2019 ‘Moments that Matter’ is our dazzling Frozen 2 Tour.

This tour saw the beloved characters of Anna, Elsa, Olaf and Kristoff make their highly anticipated MediCinema debut, as they joined children and their families for a special screening of Frozen 2. Patients in five of our MediCinemas across the UK were treated to an array of activities during our ‘Fun in the Foyer’ sessions preceding the film screening. Children enjoyed having their faces painted and doing arts and crafts while being entertained by a balloon maker.

The children were delighted to meet their favourite characters before watching them in their latest adventure. And the reviews are in! **Spoilers alert** (Yes, really!)

I've been excited to watch Frozen 2 - I've been watching clips on YouTube. I give it a thumbs up. I liked meeting Anna and Elsa - my favourite is Elsa. I made my own picture too - with leaves and gold bits and I coloured it in. I'm going to show it to Mummy.

Ellie, patient (shown above)

My favourite bit of the film was where Elsa came back home! I was really excited and liked coming down to the cinema. I'm happy because I saw Anna, Elsa and Olaf - who likes warm hugs. I'd like to come back and see them all again.

Even some of the older patients were able to enjoy and partake in the festivities:

“I really think MediCinema is extremely great considering circumstances patients may be in; it’s really thoughtful and put me in a great mood which I was struggling to get into. Thank you so much.” – Nour, teenage patient

The parents were particularly grateful for this fun-filled event. Liam, Dad of patient, Fia, said:

“Best ever. We loved it and I loved being able to cuddle Fia all through the film! We couldn’t do that at our local cinema. Thank you so much.” – Liam, dad of Fia.

Kristine, mum to patient, Belle, said:

“Thank you so much. We all had an amazing time, including the adults, and especially Annabelle. She was so excited before and after, telling her teachers and friends that she saw Elsa, Anna and Olaf. We appreciate MediCinema and everyone involved who makes it magical for our children especially for those children who have a life changing illnesses and disabilities like our Belle.” – Kristine, mum of Annabelle (Belle), Abigail and DJ

Stephanie, aunt to lovely Rory, pictured above, had this to say about their experience: ⠀

“After a horrible few months of my nephew Rory being really sick, which has taken its toll on him, being able to attend MediCinema at the children’s hospital in Glasgow was a breath of fresh air. The whole event was magical, I could see how hard the staff had worked and how happy it made not only Rory but all the other children. The meet and greet with the Frozen characters excited me as much as the children. The face painting, balloon art, gifts at the end, and the patience from the staff were the icing on the cake to a magical night. That good in fact that I set up a regular monthly donation straight afterwards. Again a massive thank you, it really brightened Rory’s spirits which, as his family, made us all so happy.”

We are so grateful to be able to provide these experiences for patients and their families, and would like to say a huge thank you to Elsa, Anna, Olaf and Kristoff for making this series of events extra magical!
