Aladdin The Musical At MediCinema
MEDICINEMA BRINGS THE MAGIC OF DISNEY'S ALADDIN, THE SPECTACULAR WEST END MUSICAL,TO EVELINA LONDON CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
This week Disney and MediCinema treated patients at Evelina London Children’s Hospital to a truly magical experience, with two days of Aladdin themed fun.
On Monday patients and those closest to them enjoyed an arts and crafts session in the Evelina London atrium. They joined together in fun-filled activities to create a host of Aladdin goodies straight from the magical world of Agrabah and the enchanted Cave of Wonders!
The treasure trove of crafts created by the excited youngsters included Aladdin lamps, Jasmine tiaras, and magic carpets, with plenty of glitter, paint, and laughter. As the evening approached, patients were still having fun with their sparkly wares, granting wishes with their lamps, playing princesses with their tiaras and staging their own magic carpet rides. Marina, aged 8, a patient at Evelina London excitedly told staff – “I’ve been granting people wishes, anything they wanted! Harriet, my nurse, asked for 1,000 wishes and a dog!”
On Tuesday, Disney brought the spectacular West End musical Aladdin to the children’s hospital – inviting families from the wards to join together in a Movement and Music workshop session. Guided by the expertise of Disney Theatrical Teaching Artists, young patients were thrilled to be taught some of their favourite from the musical including ‘Friend Like Me’ to the delight of visitors. To top off an exciting day, the cast of Aladdin surprised patient’s in the atrium and on the wards. Jasmine, Aladdin, Genie, Iago and Jafar shared moments with their young fans, who will treasure for years to come.
Fueled by imagination and magical moments, many patients such as Marina went to bed still cuddling their Aladdin goodies and telling stories from their very special day.
A big thank you to Disney for such a wonderful event, working with MediCinema to bring the power of their stories and characters to help build emotional resilience to those who need it most. Together MediCinema and Disney are creating Moments that Matter for children and those closest to them.
