Over 17,000 in-hospital cinema experiences delivered in 2024

07th Jan 2025

Over 17,000 patients, their family members and NHS staff visited our MediCinemas last year across 1,200 screenings making 2024 an exceptional year for our in-hospital cinemas.

Amongst our visitors, 550 of those attended a screening in their hospital bed whilst more were accommodated in wheelchairs where needed alongside any necessary medical equipment.

107 dedicated MediCinema nurses provided medical support across 1800 shifts giving patients the confidence to leave the ward. Meanwhile 110 volunteers have helped to create a warm and welcoming environment for visitors over the past year.

2024 also saw the launch of our new cinema at Alder Hey Children’s hospital which will provide thousands more opportunities for patients to attend our screenings for years to come.

Two new future MediCinemas were also announced at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary which will continue to expand our services and reach more patients than ever before.

2024 was a standout year for MediCinema as we reached an extraordinary number of patients and were so proud to open our amazing new facility at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. Two new cinemas are currently in planning, extending the work we do to support NHS partners in optimizing patient experience,  enabling us to benefit thousands more individuals often at challenging times in their lives.
