Jake and his family know first-hand the impact that a MediCinema visit can have. Diagnosed with Leukaemia at just three years old, they faced a challenging road ahead.

MediCinema provided a lifeline to little Jake, giving a much-needed sense of normality and escape through the magic of film and the shared cinema experience.

✨MediCinema at Alder Hey opens with Moana 2✨

This week we opened the doors to our new MediCinem

This week we opened the doors to our new MediCinema at @alderhey.

Currently the only MediCinema at a standalone paediatric hospital in the UK this is also the first cinema in a hospital in the North West of England.

The beautiful design was produced by @unickconsulting, our long-standing partner who have helped us to create magical cinematic spaces within the walls of NHS hospitals across the UK. They have also been responsible for the design and build of hundreds of new public cinemas in the UK.

Their brief was to design an inviting space that is playful and bright for the children and young people at Alder Hey NHS Foundation Trust...and we think they've done an incredible job.

Like all of our MediCinemas, the space is designed to accommodate hospital beds and wheelchairs ensuring our screenings are accessible to all.

Every screening is supported by volunteers and two nurses to allow guests to enjoy the latest releases whilst still receiving the care they need. We also have handsets and headsets for patients to create a personalised viewing experience with closed captions, audio description and volume control to suit all needs.
