Last week our BAFTA award made the journey from the site of our first MediCinema at St Thomas' Hospital in London to our newest cinema at @alderhey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.

Excitement was high with MediCinema colleagues, volunteers, NHS staff and patients getting the chance to hold the award and have their pictures taken.

This award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema is for everyone involved in making our service as special as it is. Thank you for helping us to celebrate this honour.

When young Ailsa was admitted to hospital, she spent 14 days away from her home and siblings 126 miles away.

Trips to the MediCinema with her dad became a highlight during her stay and helped to break the monotony of being on the ward. But more than that, it gave her the opportunity to see other children going through similar experiences and made her feel less alone.

Since her stay in hospital, Ailsa said of her MediCinema experience - "I loved the cinema in the hospital, and I want to help them when I’m older”.

Volunteers of Liverpool! We need you!

MediCinema is a BAFTA-winning charity that build and run cinemas in NHS hospitals in the UK.

Volunteers are vital in helping to create a welcoming and safe environment for hospital patient, work alongside MediCinema Managers and Nurses. Their primary role is to help transfer patients to and from the wards, some of whom are wheelchair users or in their hospital beds.

We are currently recruiting for volunteers to support our MediCinema at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.

If you are:
✨ passionate about helping to improve the wellbeing of NHS patients through the power of film
✨ able to commit to 2 evening screenings per month
✨ willing to volunteer for a minimum of 12 months for MediCinema
✨ within commuting distance to the Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool
