St Mungo’s Film Ambassadors raise £2629 in 12-hour film marathon

03rd Dec 2024

Over 100 students at St Mungo’s High School in Falkirk took part in a 12-hour film marathon to raise funds for MediCinema.

Led by the St Mungo’s Film Ambassadors, the marathon took place from 9am to 9pm on Saturday 23rd November in the school hall. In homage to the power of film, movies were screened back-to-back with students voting for which films would be played throughout the day. These included the likes of ‘Into the Spider-verse’, ‘Jumanji’ and ‘Ratatouille’.

The marathon was punctuated with fun group dance-breaks to keep participants active and awake throughout the day.

Together, the students raised an incredible £2629.95 for MediCinema.

It was such a privilege to host this fundraiser for such an honourable cause. We can't believe how much money we have raised and how generous everyone has been as well as being so supportive. We believe that everyone has the right to be able to escape their worries for at least two hours and that is the power of cinema. So, anything the Film Ambassadors can do to help support this cause is worth it.

Fraser Johnston, Film and Media Teacher and St Mungo's Film Ambassadors Founder

Earlier this year, the St. Mungo’s Film Ambassadors visited the MediCinema in Glasgow to see first-hand what a cinema in a hospital feels like. It is hoped that the film marathon will become an annual fixture in the school’s fundraising calendar in aid of MediCinema.

We are incredibly grateful that the students of St Mungo’s High School have chosen MediCinema as their charity of choice for this fantastic event. A special thank you goes out to the St Mungo’s Film Ambassadors who have done a brilliant job organising the film marathon and galvanising their fellow students into supporting our cause.
